The Doves – “Snowden”
More from the Doves and on the emerging Buffalo NY-Manchester UK synergy… I mean look at this video… it totally could have been made here in Buffalo (as could the preceeding video for “Black and White Town” that looks a lot like South Buffalo and increasingly North Buffalo). And close your eyes and listen to the music…. and now imagine yourself tooling around Buffalo on a snowy night…. oh yeah now you get it.
And I’ll go even further by recommending the whole damn album- The Doves Some Cities. Each cut has strangely come to represent much of what I see and hear in my great city, and it’s a great “drive around the city” record. Just ponder the song titles… “Some Cities”…. “The Storm”… “Walk In Fire”… “One Of The Days”… “Someday Soon”… “Sky Starts Falling”… and lastly “Ambition”… it’s a total musical roadmap of our city, our people, and our collective psyche (and don’t give me that- if you’re from here you know what I am talking about).
Now all we need is a soccer team.
